THE BARE TREE - KEUM SUK GENDRY KIM
SYNOPSIS
In 1950, when the Korean War breaks out, Kyung is twenty years old. She lives in Seoul with her mother. One day, she meets Ok Heedo, a painter, and immediately falls in love with this talented man. But Ok is married. Many years later, she visits a posthumous exhibition dedicated to this painter, and the past she thought was dormant is reawakened. The title, 'The Naked Tree' is taken from a famous painting by Korean artist Park Soo-geun (1914-1965), which inspired the character of Ok Heedo. Despite its appearance, the naked tree is not dead; it has lost its leaves, but its roots are nourished by the soil, which will allow it to return to life when spring comes again. The book contains color images of Park Soo-geun's paintings and various extra texts.
